Psalm 86:15-19

The eyes of all look to you,
and you give them their food in due season.
You open your hand;
you satisfy the desire of every living thing.
The LORD is righteous in all his ways
and kind in all his works.
The LORD is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth.
He fulfills the desire of those who fear him;
he also hears their cry and saves them.

(ESV)

We are in a cold snap. It frosted hard for a couple of nights, and it's supposed to continue doing so. Flurries of snow have spit at me from the sky.

Our pool was not closed.

This was causing me much concern. I was so concerned, I asked some friends to pray with me about it.

Yesterday (Friday) was dryer and sunnier than expected (it was not sunny, but a few rays broke the gloom on a couple of occasions, miraculously). There was not much wind, either! Shawn stayed home from work and closed our pool. David arrived home in time to help him put on the new winter cover at the end.

The pool is closed.

The new green cover is less depressing than the black covers we've had in the past.

God heard my prayers and took care of me. My husband worked hard.

I am thankful.

    ..............I see God's work so much more these days than I have in the past. It's not only a clearer view (almost like my glasses being clearer to see through) but also I am more watchful and appreciative.
    ...........Did Shawn plan to stay home or did he so that he could do something to relieve your anxiousness about the pool?? (It is such a blessing to be able to see God's interventions) I have been so blessed by Don this year...his attentiveness to me and to our family, how he watches out and oversee's now more than ever because he realizes that I need him too because I can't do it and other things as I used to. He is a gift to me .... as I'm sure Shawn is to you!-Shari

  2. Shari--we had a very busy October. It was a huge blessing to go out to see Shannon over Columbus Day. The following weekend was our school's turn to host the big marching band competition (11 area bands came to our high school to perform and compete). On top of that, it was a very cold, wet weekend. Then this past weekend, we had the huge blessing of having our whole family home together.

    I just cannot bring myself to close the pool in September. I love to look out the window at the blue water, and the black winter cover is so depressing. So I always put off closing the pool until October. But this year we had such a hard time finding a weekend when we could close it in October. Then when it got so cold and started freezing every night, I got really nervous. So Shawn was good to me and stayed home from work on Friday and took care of it. I helped a little bit, but he did the lion's share of the work.

    A sensitive, hard-working husband is truly a gift. I used to do much of our fall raking, but the last few years my fibromyalgia has prohibited that. It is kind of an awful feeling to look out the window and see others doing work I feel I ought to be doing, but it is truly something to be thankful for, that we have these people in our lives.
